Display Stage

Concept

The Display Stage is a confidence monitor visible only to the preacher, singers or worship leader. It shows real-time information (current verse, lyrics, clock, countdown, messages from the booth) without being visible to the congregation.

Display Stage is a Pro/Cloud feature, available in the desktop app. An active subscription is required.

A stage monitor is a projection output

Since version 1.1.24, the stage monitor uses the same output system as the projection. In Settings → Projection → Outputs, create an output and give it the “Display Stage” source: it has its own screen, its own template and its own Open / Close buttons.

  • Several stage monitors at once: one for the speaker, one for the singers, each with its own template.
  • The Stage page (Ctrl+6) is the template library: create, edit, duplicate, then “Send to” the output of your choice.
  • The Settings tab of the Stage page shows the same outputs panel, filtered to stage monitors.
  • If you used the previous single-screen setting, it is converted into an output automatically on first visit.

Available Elements

  • Clock — 24h/12h format, seconds, date
  • Timer (countdown) — One countdown per element, driven from the template card or the remote (see below)
  • Stage message — Message sent from the booth to the preacher (e.g. “5 minutes left”)
  • Custom Text — Static text (church name, instructions)
  • Current Song Lyrics — Current section of the song
  • Next Song Lyrics — Preview of the next section
  • Current Bible Verse — The currently projected verse
  • Song Section Label — Verse, Chorus, Bridge, etc.
  • Custom Graphics / Logos — Custom images
  • Output Preview — Shows the screen of another projection output live (multiview, see below)

Verses, lyrics and messages shrink automatically to fit their box: nothing is ever cut off on screen. Each element has adjustable padding, border and corner radius, and a free text size up to 500 px.

Timer: one countdown per element

Each Timer element in a template has its own countdown. Its options are set in the element properties, in the editor:

  • Default duration and duration presets (e.g. 5, 10, 30 min)
  • Display format (mm:ss, h:mm:ss…)
  • Colour thresholds: the countdown changes colour as the end approaches
  • Time-up behaviour: stop at zero or go negative, on-screen message, animation (pulse, blink, shake, background flash)

Live, the Start / Stop / Reset commands, the presets, a free duration and the time-up override live in the template card on the Stage page, as soon as that template is sent to an output. The mobile remote lists the timers of the open outputs and offers the same commands.

The countdown is computed from a shared end time: the operator, every stage screen and the phone show exactly the same value, with no drift.

Stage message

The “Stage message” button in the control bar (visible on every page) sends a text to every open stage monitor. It offers editable quick presets (“Slower”, “Wrap up”, “Time is up”…), an auto-clear duration and an “On screen” banner with a Clear button. The mobile remote offers the same tab.

Multiview and output preview

The “Output preview” element shows, live, the screen of another projection output on a stage monitor. It lets you compose a wall of screens (multiviewer) on a control monitor, or show the speaker exactly what the congregation sees.

To get it: on the Stage page (Ctrl+6), use the “Multiviewer 2×2” preset, then “Send to” the control screen. Then open the template editor and assign, in each cell, the output to display (the “Displayed output” property).

The “Stage + audience screen” preset combines an output preview cell with a timer and a clock: sent to the speaker's screen, it shows the same content as the audience screen during the service.

  • Displayed output — the projection output whose screen is captured
  • Label — shows or hides the output's name on the cell
  • Fit — contain or cover the cell
  • Quality — standard or high; two cells targeting the same screen share a single capture, at the highest quality requested

A cell with no output assigned, or whose output was deleted, shows a placeholder instead of an empty stream. States shown: output closed (badge, the screen keeps being displayed), screen not found (the screen was unplugged), mirror loop (the cell targets the screen of its own window).

On macOS, the first capture requests the “Screen Recording” permission (System Settings → Privacy & Security). Without it, the cell shows an instruction instead of the stream.

This version only captures screen outputs; NDI outputs are not yet supported in the multiview (coming later). In web mode, the cell shows “Available in the desktop app”: capture is desktop-only.

Visual Editor

The drag-and-drop editor shares its interface with the other lixPresentr editors:

  1. Add elements from the left toolbar, which also holds the Layers panel (lock, hide, reorder)
  2. Position and resize them on the canvas, with snap grid and safe zone
  3. Adjust each element in the tabbed properties panel: colour, font, size, alignment, padding, border, visibility
  4. “Align to page”: six buttons (top, middle, bottom, left, center, right) in the Position panel

The editor, the thumbnails and the stage screen draw exactly the same thing: what you see in the editor is what the speaker will see.

Templates

Save your configurations as templates, import and export as JSON to share between devices, duplicate or delete existing templates.

Tip: use a simple layout with large fonts for maximum readability from the stage.
