Animated Backgrounds (Shaders)

Shader backgrounds are animated backdrops rendered in real time by the graphics card (GPU). They give your slides continuous, distinctive motion — no video file, no visible loop, and with your own colors.

Where to use them

  • Slide editor: Background panel → "Shader" type.
  • Bible template editor and song template editor: same controls, with a live animated preview right in the canvas.

The background stays continuous as you move between slides (no reset or flicker), like a live video — including on the projection output and multi-outputs.

Available effects

18 effects are included, from subtle to spectacular:

Prismatic Burst, Soft Aurora, Silk, Iridescence, Galaxy, Lightfall, Light Rays, Aurora, Grainient, Plasma Wave, Dark Veil, Side Rays, Strands, Line Waves, Plasma, Liquid Chrome, Orb, Pixel Snow.

Each effect offers mood presets, your custom colors, and advanced controls (speed, intensity, scale…) to match your visual identity.

Performance and reliability

  • Animation only runs where it matters: projection, live operator preview, and the open editor. Thumbnails (playlists, template lists) show a crisp still frame of the effect — the app stays smooth even with many shader slides.
  • Rendering is guarded: if the graphics card is unavailable, a still gradient with your colors takes over — projection is never blocked.

Reduced motion

Since version 1.1.20, shader backgrounds keep animating even when Windows or macOS asks to reduce animations (accessibility setting): they are projection visuals, not UI animations. If you prefer still backgrounds on a machine, enable "Respect reduced motion" in Settings → Projection.

Frozen backgrounds? On versions 1.1.19 and earlier, motionless shader backgrounds almost always come from the Windows "Animation effects" setting being turned off — see the desktop app troubleshooting.
